Matt grew up in Wauseon and married his high school sweetheart, Lanita, in 1979. He graduated with a Construction Management Engineering degree from Purdue University in 1981 and then worked in that field until God called him into vocational ministry in 1983 to serve as youth director at the Covenant Presbyterian Church in West Lafayette, IN. Matt finished his seminary training in 1987, graduating from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL with a Masters of Religious Education. He served as a Senior Pastor for nine and a half years before coming to Crossroads in 2002 as Teaching Pastor. In June 2006, Matt was affirmed Senior Pastor by the membership of Crossroads. Matt is passionate about leading others to delight in Jesus Christ and in the Scripture and is excited about the future of Crossroads Evangelical Church.

The Boyers' four children and seven grandchildren have been a great source of delight to them over the years. Matt considers his wife, Lanita, his greatest earthly asset, and together the Boyers have partnered in ministry for over 30 years working with youth, families and married couples.

Matt enjoys sports (especially golfing and skiing), woodworking and home renovation (just count his fingertips--or lack thereof!!), motorcycling (in all kinds of weather) and table fellowship (a spiritual term for eating!).
